THE RADIO DEPT. - Running Out Of Love - Labrador Sweden
Labrador's best selling band returns with their first album in over 6 years. An amazing album that shows a band that's taking big leaps forwards and still sound exactly like The Radio Dept.
KORN - The Serenity Of Suffering - Roadrunner Records
The Serenity Of Suffering is the twelfth studio album from Korn. According to guitarist Brian Welch, it is "heavier than anyone's heard us in a long time" and it contains their most intense music in a long time vocally as well. The artwork contains elements of Korn's fourth album, Issues, and was created by Ron English.
LADY GAGA - Joanne - Interscope Records
Lady Gaga releases her fifth studio album Joanne on Interscope and Streamline Records. "Perfect Illusion" was released as the album's lead single on September 9, 2016, going number one in France and Spain, while reaching the top 20 in more than ten countries including Australia, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
JONES - New Skin - PIAS America
East London soul-singer JONES unveils her highly-anticipated first album, New Skin. Featuring the singles Melt, Hoops and Indulge, the album was produced by big names, such as Rodaidh McDonald, Two Inch Punch and Tourist, who have been renowned for creating breakthrough hits for Sam Smith and Låpsley.
AGNES OBEL - Citizen Of Glass - PIAS America
Acclaimed Danish singer and pianist Agnes Obel releases her new album Citizen Of Glass, featuring the singles Familiar, Golden Green and Stretch Your Eyes. "The title comes from the German concept of the gläserner bürger, the human or glass citizen. It’s actually a legal term about the level of privacy the individual has in a state, and in health it’s become a term about how much we know about a person’s body or biology or history – if they’re completely made of glass we know everything. There’s an increasing sense in this world that you have to make yourself a bit of glass. To be willing to open up, use yourself as material, and not just if you’re an artist or a musician. I worked with the title from the very beginning to push myself to do new things. I wanted to push myself conceptually from the starting point, to push the glass theme throughout the songs in different ways – in the lyrics, in the instruments – to do things in a very new way. As an album, it feels bigger to me, a lot bigger." - Agnes Obel
NEKROMANTIX - A Symphony of Wolf Tones & Ghost Notes - Hellcat Records
Nekromantix is a musical unearthing of the biggest themes from the greatest works of monster, zombie, vampire, werewolf and b-horror fiction; ripped from literature, comic book pages or classic celluloid. NEKROMANTIX chases a darkly romantic muse with an even darker humor. A Symphony of Wolf Tones & Ghost Notes broadens the NEKROMANTIX legacy with expansive ambition that never sacrifices the trio’s inherent grittiness, furiously stoking and reshaping the flames of the creative vision begun in Denmark with legendary labels like Nervous Records, through the band’s master classes in punk n’ roll albums stateside with Hellcat Records, the label cofounded by Tim Armstrong and Brett Gurewitz.
JOHN K SAMSON - Winter Wheat - Epitaph
Singer/songwriter John K. Samson enlists the rhythm section from his renowned band The Weakerthans for much of his second solo album, Winter Wheat. Inspired by the search for connection and community, his hometown of Winnipeg, and our individual and collective struggles with addictions to drugs, screens, and fossil fuels - Winter Wheat is a sprawling, masterful and timely work by a writer at the peak of his powers. Winter Wheat was produced in garages and homes through a Winnipeg winter by Samson’s partner and collaborator, Christine Fellows, and his Weakerthans co-founder and drummer/multi-instrumentalist Jason Tait, and mixed in the spring in Toronto by Robbie Lackritz (Bahamas, Feist). The spare and thoughtful arrangements also feature Greg Smith of The Weakerthans on electric bass, Ashley Au on double and electric bass, Leanne Zacharias on cello, and Shotgun Jimmie on electric guitar. Like the crop itself, which is planted in the fall, sprouts, goes dormant through months of snow and rises in the spring, Winter Wheat is a determined, beautiful, resilient response to difficult and extraordinary times.
Lazarus [Original Cast Recording] - Interscope Records
Lazarus, the musical presented by the New York Theater Workshop in December 2015 and January 2016, was written by David Bowie and Enda Walsh. The show opened to phenomenal critical acclaim. The New York Times raved "Ice-cold bolts of ecstasy shoot like novas through the glamorous muddle and murk of Lazarus, the great-sounding, great-looking and mind-numbing new musical," while Rolling Stone hailed it as a "Surrealistic Tour de Force... milk-swimming, lingerie-sniffing, gin-chugging theater at its finest." Lazarus is based on the classic sci-fi novel The Man Who Fell to Earth by Walter Tevis. The musical includes both re-worked material from Bowie's iconic catalogue alongside brand new music. This collection includes the full cast and band of the original New York production with their versions of the David Bowie songs from the show as the Lazarus Cast Album. The album was produced by the show's musical director Henry Hey, who had previously worked with Bowie on "The Next Day" and features vocals from actors Michael C. Hall, Sophia Anne Caruso, Cristin Milioti, Michael Esper and other cast members backed by the seven-piece house band Hey assembled for the New York run. The album was recorded January 11, 2016. Upon arriving at the studio, the musicians and cast were shocked and saddened to learn that Bowie had passed away the evening before. Their emotional performances that day are captured on this recording.
