The latest offering from the internationally renowned and top-selling British Alternative Rock band elbow is this very special 5-song EP recorded at WXPN's NON-COMMvention at World Café Live in Philadelphia, May 2014. This is an absolute 'MUST' for all elbow fans and a great companion piece to the successful and critically acclaimed 'The Take Off and Landing of Everything' which was released this past March.$119.98 $107.98
Features a collection of the four essential early HIM studio albums encompassing the group's trailblazing early catalog, on heavy weight 180gram virgin vinyl, as well as the band's debut 1996 EP '666 Ways To Love: Prologue' on 180gram heavy weight vinyl for the first time ever. The first instrument you notice upon listening to Something About Airplanes is the cello on "Bend to Squares." It fades out, soon enough replaced by the familiar electric guitar, but it sets this album's offbeat mood. Experimentation and pop hooks strike a perfect balance on this debut from the Bellingham, Washington-based Death Cab for Cutie.$22.98 $20.98
On their debut album, 1999's Something About Airplanes, Death Cab for Cutie proved there's a reason why Northwest music critics continue to sing their praises. The foursome combined the emo sounds of Modest Mouse and 764-Hero with an inventive, and often sly, sentimentality. It worked wonders, but still sounded a little too lo-fi. Luckily, on We Have the Facts and We're Voting Yes the group has figured out all the production nuances that flawed that auspicious debut.$22.98 $20.98
Death Cab for Cutie turn difficult personal issues into literary rock songs while straddling the narrow line between blissful pop and driving indie rock. The Northwest act's songs soar high like Built to Spill's or Beulah's, and almost every track on The Photo Album is as musically bouncy and upbeat as the best of those bands.$25.98 $23.98
The Knick is the new exciting TV series by writer/director Steven Soderbergh (HBO's Behind the Candelabra, Side Effects...). Cinemax is to premiere The Knick on August 8. Limited to 2,000 units worldwide, each copy is individually numbered with a gold-foil stamp.$24.98 $22.98
Movie Releases 12-23-14
Michael Winterbottom's largely improvised film The Trip took comedians Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon or semifictionalized versions thereof on a restaurant tour around northern England. In this witty and incisive follow-up, Winterbottom reunites the pair for a new culinary road trip, retracing the steps of the Romantic poets grand tour of Italy and indulging in some sparkling banter and impersonation-offs. Once again Coogan and Brydon enjoy mouthwatering meals in gorgeous settings from Liguria to Capri while riffing on subjects as varied as Batman's vocal register, the artistic merits of Jagged Little Pill, and, of course, the virtue of sequels. Equally hilarious and insightful, THE TRIP TO ITALY effortlessly melds the crackling chemistry between Coogan and Brydon to create a brilliantly comic rumination on the nuances of friendship and the juggling of family and career.$35.99 $32.39
Fifteen years after being orphaned by the civil war in Sudan, 3600 displaced refugees known as "The Lost Boys" get a shot at a new life thanks to a massive humanitarian effort that aims to bring them to America. Academy Award-winner Reese Witherspoon (Walk the Line) stars in this inspirational drama from Oscar-nominated director Philippe Falardeau (Monsieur Lazhar).$34.99 $31.49
PRIDE is inspired by an extraordinary true story. It's the summer of 1984, Margaret Thatcher is in power and the National Union of Mineworkers is on strike, prompting a London-based group of gay and lesbian activists to raise money to support the strikers' families. Initially rebuffed by the Union, the group identifies a tiny mining village in Wales and sets off to make their donation in person. As the strike drags on, the two groups discover that standing together makes for the strongest union of all...$49.98 $44.98
