Ruth Lorenzo rose to fame thanks to her time on the British talent show "The X Factor", where she placed fifth. Once the competition was over she continued her independent musical career in the UK. In 2014 she agreed to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest representing Spain. Ruth Lorenzo's second album is made up mainly of songs in English with the exception of a couple of songs in Spanish, thus following the change of course that began with the reissue of her first album. In the artist's words her second album "has a very different sound to 'Planeta Azul', as they were stories of a girl and in this album I talk more about my time in London".

Beyond The End [LP]
$28.98  26.98

Mercury Prize nominated recording artist, Ed Harcourt, releases his eight studio album Beyond The End. It sees the supremely versatile singer, writer and all-round instrumentalist bravely eschew vocals and lyrics and create a soft-spoken yet emotionally loquacious group of piano-led instrumentals. It is as if Harcourt is sound-tracking an as yet invisible film, or responding to today's ferocious shouting match of a planet with a mesmerizing, meditative calm.

Afterlife [Limited Edition Black/Yellow LP]
$17.98  16.98

Limited yellow and black colored vinyl LP pressing. 2018 release from the Cleveland, OH based pop-punk unit. Afterlife was recorded and produced by Will Yip (who also produced 2015's I'll See You When I See You) and features the single "Back Then." The song has a classic simple rock and roll vibe melded with some new school punk rock elements. Lyrically the song was written about the band's first time on the road, which was between high school and college and sets the tone sonically for the record. Lead vocalist, Pat Kennedy had this to say about how much Afterlife means to him: "Afterlife is where Light Years has been heading for the past 8 years. We spent more time on this record than anything we have done before and I think it shows. We tried new sounds and ideas that before we would have never thought to do, or been willing to try, which I think only comes from the maturity you get from being in a band for so many years. We hope people like this record as much as we do, but if they don't, we really don't care."

Ode To A Friend [LP]
$26.98  24.98

Old Sea Brigade releases his highly anticipated full-length debut Ode to a Friend. While the songs remain rooted in Americana, indie, rock, and ambient soundscapes, they also toss and turn between analog cinematic flourishes and provocative lyricism. At times singer-songwriter, other times indie-rock – no matter the inspiration behind the mélange of styles, Cramer has created a soundscape of the utmost sincerity and beauty. Throughout Ode...Old Sea Brigade tackles one of life’s most complex crises: how to make each day’s fleeting moments amount to something. It's these deeply introspective, meditative songs that make Old Sea Brigade so compelling.

Heart Songs [LP]
$19.98  18.98

In music as in love, one + one can add up to not two but a new and greater one. On Heart Songs two of the world's greatest guitarists, Tommy Emmanuel and John Knowles, make this clear. Both are masters of their instrument, honored by the iconic Chet Atkins with the rare designation of CGP (Certified Guitar Players). Their early journeys were dissimilar. Emmanuel began his in Australia, grew up on the road with his family's band, settled as a teenager in Sydney and left his rock band to launch a spectacular solo career. Knowles followed a more academic path, eventually earning a PH.D. in physics from Texas Christian University but then electing to pursue his true love of music. Inevitably they would cross paths, become friends and perform on stages and clinics around the world. Their styles are distinctive but for that very reason they mesh seamlessly, with Knowles generally creating sophisticated but compelling foundations over which Emmanuel's guitar soars in astonishing yet always musical flights.

Verkligheten
$12.98  11.98

SOILWORK has been around, in one form or another, for twenty years now. Some people say that they haven’t made anything worth listening to after “Steelbath Suicide”. Some have only heard “Stabbing The Drama. Some think “The Living Infinite”, the band’s 2013 double disc release, was quite epic. It’s all good. At this point in a band’s career, you can either choose the nostalgia route, playing old albums in their entirety, because that makes an easy package for promoters to sell. Verkligheten, the title of Soilwork’s latest offering, is the Swedish word for reality, the entity that we’re all trying to escape from. Verkligheten is their attempt to try and go somewhere else, to express all those things that are born in between hypnagogic states and frenzies of hyperrealism. SOILWORK is a band that has been through a lot. They don’t have to try and tidy things up by using clichés like personal and/or musical differences. It has been hell. They are not young anymore, and their reality these days is the hellhounds on their tails, the ghosts in their subconscious and the coldness of existence that starts eating at the soul the very day that you leave the womb. We can no longer escape the fact that we’re vulnerable to the shortcomings of life itself.

Black Frost
$12.98  11.98

Most people haven’t heard of Esens, Germany, once home to Baroque composer Philipp Heinrich Erlebach. Nestled at whatever-end of Lower Saxony, where the East Frisian Islands form a barrier against the wailing North Sea, the town of 7,000 has slept the years away. However, rising death metal stars NAILED TO OBSCURITY are about to put Esens on the proverbial map with new album, “Black Frost”, their first for Nuclear Blast Records. Formed in 2005, NAILED TO OBSCURITY went through the usual ups and downs as a band. Mere months after forming, NAILED TO OBSCURITY issued their first demo, “Our Darkness”. While most bands live and die on the possibility of signing a label deal, NAILED TO OBSCURITY persevered, releasing their debut album, “Abyss”, independently in 2007. Since then the band has released two full length releases, “Opaque” (2013) and “King Delusion” (2017). Today, NAILED TO OBSCURITY remains a labor of love with band members spread out over Germany, but they still shack up on weekends in the rehearsal room in Esens to write together. That’s how new album, “Black Frost”, was born. Songs like 'Tears Of The Eyeless,' 'The Aberrant Host,' 'Road To Perdition,' and the magnificent title track were part of NAILED TO OBSCURITY’s weekend forays into the depths of melodic death metal (and beyond). The frantic pace at which “Black Frost” was written, however, didn’t impact the quality of songcraft. Whereas “King Delusion” focused on the pairing of savagery and melody, “Black Frost” changes up the formula. Call it maturity or desire to present ideas differently, NAILED TO OBSCURITY’s new songs churn, swirl, and coalesce around and into the band’s engaging if cloudy psychosocial lyrics.

In The End [LP]
$18.98  17.98

“On Monday 15th January this year Dolores O’Riordan died in London. Two days later she was due to come into BMG and play us the song demos for a new Cranberries album. At this point none of us believed there would be another studio album from the band.

A couple of months later the remaining band members (Noel, Fergal & Mike) listened through to the vocals with producer Stephen Street and with the full support of Dolores’s family the decision was taken to take the vocal tracks and for the band to complete the recording of the album. This was a direct reaction to the strength of the material Dolores had left as her legacy.

The end result is a euphoric alternative rock album on a par with the band’s best work, and together with the striking album artwork (by original band photographer Andy Earl and original sleeve designer Cally Calloman), celebrates vitality and optimism albeit tinged with tremendous poignancy.”

—Alistair Norbury, BMG UK President

Almost Free [LP]
$25.98  23.98

Almost Free, the new release from FIDLAR touches on many of the tragedies and irritations of modern life: existential dread, gentrification, the inescapable sway of the super-rich and the self-involved, post-breakup telecommunication, performative wokeness, the loneliness of sobriety or the lack thereof. But through sheer force of imagination and an unchecked joie de vivre, the L.A.-based band manages to turn feeling wrong into something glorious and essential. In the age of joyless self-care, Almost Free makes a brilliant case for being less careful, for living without fear of fucking up, and possibly embracing any incurred damage as a lucky symptom of being alive. The album sees the band pushing boundaries into new territory and influences while staying true to their unshakable core. "A lot of the vibe was, 'Well, why can't we do that? Why can't we have horns? Why can't we have key changes? Why can't we have a harmonica loop?', said lead singer/guitarist Zac Carper. It was abouttaking the ceiling off. Having it be limitless. Ain't no rules." Elvis added "Almost Free feels like a step forward for us in a lot of ways. We tried to be true to ourselves and let the music come out naturally, without fear of how people would receive it.

Music To Draw To: Io [2LP]
$34.98  31.48
The Goat [LP]
$29.98  27.98

"Puppy’s anticipated debut album is a fusion of mighty riffs, infectious melodies and genre-bustin’ ambition. In short, it’s like nothing else. Since releasing their ‘Vol II’ EP in 2017, this London-based trio have been climbing the ranks of rock royalty; they’ve featured on ‘Guitar Hero’ and they’ve appeared at a host of major festivals, including Glastonbury, picking up heavy praise (The Guardian, Radio One, etc.) along the way… All of which has paved the way for ‘The Goat’ – 12 tracks that successfully combine the left-field melodic turns of Weezer, the hazy fuzz of Smashing Pumpkins and the straight-to-the bone sonics of the Big Four of Thrash, the end result being a signature sound that hides a bloody, occult-esque heart beneath its festival-ready choruses. With eight of the album’s 12 tracks produced by Neil Kennedy (Creeper, Boston Manor) and the remaining four by Tom Dalgety (Royal Blood, Ghost), ‘The Goat’ is a record that’ll inspire grins from even the most grizzled of metalheads and headbanging from the most hesitant of indie kids, dodging convention and pretension at every turn in favour of a fun-first approach. With video tracks ‘Black Hole’, ‘Demons’ & ‘Entombed’ all proudly featured, the latter pair in emboldened guise, ‘The Goat’ will be one of 2019’s finest guitar albums from one of the country’s most entrancing new bands. Prismism examines our basic relationships and interactions, with family, friends and co-workers, how one can feel trapped by their surroundings, as well as those that rely on them, emotionally and/or professionally. It applies to Dave's difficulties in reconciling his domestic and career choices and finds the solution in the very thing that brought him here in the first place -- the music. Combining both acoustic and electric guitars, as well as a longtime fascination with keyboards and electronic music -- which he wasn't able to explore as much as he would've liked in The Killers -- Keuning has created a psychic diary that allows us to connect the dots and learn what brought him to a career crossroads.

• Remastered and restored performance originally recorded and broadcast in 1974. • On LP officially for the first time. • New liner notes from authors Robert Gordon and Rich Tupica. • Liners include an interview with bassist, John Lightman. Big Star recorded their second album, Radio City, as a trio, after the departure of founding member Chris Bell. When it came time to tour, original bassist Andy Hummel decided to return to school to pursue his engineering education. With this departure, Alex Chilton and Jody Stephens recruited fellow Memphis native John Lightman to take over on bass duties, and the band readied their live set. That set is on display as Big Star recorded a radio session at Ultrasonic Studios in New York for broadcast on the city’s preeminent WLIR. Nearly two decades later, those recordings were issued as Live in 1992. Omnivore Recordings is proud to reintroduce those recordings, restored and remastered from the original tapes, as Live On WLIR, on CD—and, its first official release on LP. The 15 track set features material from the band’s two releases, as well as a cover of “Motel Blues” by Loudon Wainwright III (which originally appeared on his classic 1971 sophomore release, Album II). With new, updated liner notes from Memphis writer/filmmaker, Robert Gordon (who won a Grammy® for his essay in 2010’s Big Star boxed set Keep An Eye On The Sky) and an interview with John Lightman by Chris Bell biographer Rich Tupica (There Was A Light: The Cosmic History Of Big Star Founder Chris Bell), Live On WLIR enters the Big Star canon in the form it deserves. Because, you know, you get what you deserve.

Rehab Doll: Deluxe Edition [LP]
$24.98  22.98

The story of Seattle's rise to global rock supremacy in the late '80s and early '90s begins with Green River. Made up of Jeff Ament (bass), Mark Arm (guitar/vocals), Bruce Fairweather (guitar), Stone Gossard (guitar), and Alex Shumway (drums), the quintet put out three 12”s and a 7” single during its brief existence. Green River's influence on Seattle's music scene spread far and wide thanks to the members' dispersion into bands including Pearl Jam, Mudhoney, and Love Battery, as well as the punk-glam-sludge-rock songs they left behind. "By '83, '84, there was definitely a movement that was happening within hardcore, like Black Flag slowing down for My War," says Arm. "The Replacements and Butthole Surfers were rearing their heads, and they're very different bands, but they're not hardcore—the Replacements are pretty much straight-up rock, and Butthole Surfers were God knows what. Sonic Youth's Bad Moon Rising was around, and a lot of really interesting post-hardcore things were happening." Green River, which formed in 1984, was part of that evolution, with a sound that straddled a lot of different genres—blues, punk, bloozy straight-ahead rock. The mini-LP Dry As A Bone, which came out in 1987, and the band's lone full-length Rehab Doll, which came out in 1988, were released as a single CD with a few bonus cuts, including their sneering cover of David Bowie's "Queen Bitch" and their marauding version of Dead Boys' "Ain't Nothin' to Do," in 1990—but they've been unavailable on vinyl for years. Now, these slices of Seattle music history are not only back in print, they're accompanied by items from the vaults that had been forgotten about for decades. Dry As A Bone was recorded at Jack Endino's Reciprocal Recording in 1986, and it shows the band in furious form, with Arm's yowl battling Fairweather and Gossard's ferocious guitar playing on "This Town" and "Unwind" opening as a slow bluesy grind then jump-starting itself into a hyperactive chase. The deluxe edition includes Green River's cuts from the crucial Seattle-scene compilation Deep Six, as well as long-lost songs that were recorded to the now-archaic format Betamax. Rehab Doll, recorded largely at Seattle's Steve Lawson Studios., bridges the gap between the taut, punky energy of Dry As a Bone and the bigger drums and thicker riffs that were coming to dominate rock in the late '80s. This new edition of Rehab Doll includes a version of “Swallow My Pride” recorded to 8-track at Endino's Reciprocal Recording, which features a more accurate depiction of how the band sounded when they played live. "When I listen to these mixes, I think, 'This is how we actually sounded—this is the kind of energy we had,'" says Shumway. Green River's place in American music history is without question, but these recordings paint a more complete picture of the band—and of rock in the mid- to late-'80s, when punk's faster-and-louder ideals had begun shape-shifting into other ideas.
