All the compositions I have selected share the common feature of spontaneous, creative, imaginative genesis. Hindemith composed his expressive and extremely varied solo sonata within just a few days as part of a bet with fellow composers. Eric Feldbusch's suite "Mosaïque" consists of expressive improvisations based on traditional Jewish melodies and a lively wedding dance. In his own works for the Vier Traumbilder, Manuel Lipstein not only demonstrates his cellistic skills.
