Formed in 2004, the band started out as an authentic UK crust/noisecore style band, but changed to a dark and heavy sound that incorporated a doom/sludge approach. In 2009, they released their first album from HG Fact. Since then, they have released many EPs and split works. After a three-year hiatus, they resumed activities in 2020. This work contains only songs released since the restart, and in order to eliminate external factors as much as possible and produce it only with close people who have a deep understanding of the band and Zenocide's musicality, they appointed their ally from the ISTERISMO days, Satoshi Otsuka (SOLVENT COBALT), as the engineer. The recording was done at a studio owned by CORNER PRINTING in Toda Park. The album is a compilation of mid-tempo hardcore that reinterprets the band's roots of anarcho-punk/metal crust style with a sludgecore-like BPM, songs with vocals and black metal-influenced reverb, and songs with a new style influenced by post-punk and shoegaze sound processing. The mixing and mastering are not peaky like so-called extreme music, but rather, we spent a long time repeatedly searching for a rich balance that the listener can digest, and we worked closely with Otsuka to create the album. The title 'Ashes Asylum' is an arrangement for the live event 'GRAYASLUM' organized by Zenocide, but it is a motif of 'ashes' that remain even after everything is burned out, from the image of a gray zone that is neither black nor white, which is a symbol of the difficulty of categorizing Zenocide's songs and activity style. It is also a metaphor for the world itself, where massacres continue to occur all over the world, 'the ash asylum, or the sanctuary.'Songlist1. Blood of the Others2. Observation3. V/0/1/d4.
