The Minus 5 on this outing includes Peter Buck from R.E.M. as well as Nate Query and John Moen from The Decemberists. Tim O'Reagan is the drummer of The Jayhawks. Jim Boquist is best known for his work in the original Son Volt line-up as well as Golden Smog. The Songs For Slim series is a project devised to raise money for former Replacements guitarist, Slim Dunlap, who suffered a severe stroke last year. Friends and fans are covering Slim's songs for release as limited edition, split 45s in beautiful, numbered picture sleeves. Most of the singles are being auctioned but this is a special Record Store Day release. Other upcoming artists in the series include Steve Earle, Craig Finn, Lucinda Wiiliams, Frank Black, The Jayhawks, Deer Tick, Jakob Dylan and John Doe among others. The series was launched in January with an EP by The Replacements. 250 10" vinyl copies were auctioned off, bringing in a staggering total of $106,750.92.
