Black History Month 2022
Honoring the importance and impact of legendary black artists on popular culture, Rhino Records launches its annual Black History Month celebration with a series of vinyl reissues, first-ever digital releases, initiatives, activations, and various collaborations.
The definitive collection of Curtis Mayfield’s reflective, soul moving, evocative hits. Includes everything from the political to the romantic, from cuts from his genre-defining Superfly (“Freddie’s Dead) to statement makers like “(Don’t Worry) If there’s a hell below, we’re all going to go.”
The Best of Brandy was originally released on CD only in 2004. This is the first time the album will be available on vinyl, and it will be 2-LP Fruit punch colored vinyl. It features her hit singles from each of her Atlantic Albums – Brandy, Never Say Never, Full Moon, and Afrodisiac. Notable tracks include “The Boy Is Mine” Feat. Monica, “Talk About Our Love” feat. Kanye West, and “I Wanna Be Down” (Remix) feat. Queen Latifah, MC Lyte, and Yo-Yo. It also includes notable covers including a cover of Michael Jackson’s “Rock With You” featuring Heavy D.
Slave featuring Steve Arrington is being reissued on vinyl for the first time since it’s 1978 release. Allmusic.com says “Stellar Fungkcaptures the best moments ofSlave's career and some of the most hypnotic funk ever to come out of Ohio, or the '70s for that matter.” After the successful receiption to our Zapp and Roger All The Greatest hits release for Black Music Month, we’ve got another excellent and unexpected addition for any funk collector!
